WhatsApp will let users send ‘HD’ photos
WhatsApp has introduced an enhanced capability that enables users to transmit higher-quality "HD" images via its messaging platform. Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, made this announcement through his Meta broadcast channel on Instagram, stating, "An upgrade to photo-sharing on WhatsApp has been implemented. Now you have the option to send images in HD."
This new feature will gradually become accessible to users worldwide within the coming weeks. Those who have access to this feature will be able to dispatch images with superior quality and resolution (though these images will likely still undergo compression from their original formats). This applies to users employing Android, iOS, or the web to send images. When recipients receive such images, regardless of their platform, a small icon indicating the higher quality will be displayed. According to Meta, the support for HD videos will also be implemented shortly.

Upon receiving this update, users will observe an "HD" gear icon while attaching an image to a message thread. This aspect was initially observed in beta versions and shared via screenshots by WABetaInfo. It is noteworthy that this feature was initially introduced to beta testers via iOS version 23.11.0.76 and Android version 2.23.12.13.
WhatsApp has introduced an update that permits both iPhone and Android users to transmit images in enhanced resolution, effectively resolving the issue of the platform's prior limitation on image quality during sharing.
Termed as "HD quality," this feature empowers users to send images with heightened clarity and minimal compression. Notably, images taken on an iPhone can now be shared with a resolution of 3024 x 4032, a significant increase from the former maximum of 920 x 1280 resolution.
Recipients who receive these HD photos will observe a label denoting "HD" positioned in the corner of the image. This label serves as an indicator that the recipient has obtained a version with superior quality. Additionally, it's important to highlight that WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption covers all high-resolution images, ensuring their protection.
To access this feature, it's necessary to update WhatsApp to the latest version and subsequently follow these outlined steps. (Note: If you do not find the HD option as described below, it signifies that the feature has not yet been made available in your region.)
